We took just 3 gymnasts from the Wednesday Junior Competition Class to Baskervilles this time.  This autumn competition requires set gymnastic elements on all 3 pieces of apparatus of floor, vault and trampet with increasing start values for more difficult moves.  In each age group there were three levels of competition defined by the number of hours the gymnasts trained in a week.  This was our first attempt at competing in this competition.  We entered the Pre-levels Competition for gymnasts who train for up to 2 hours per week, but as we were alternating with the more advanced competitors in the intermediate competition we were able to enjoy seeing the progressions to the more advanced moves: a valuable learning experience.

Session 2: The Under 9s

We have finished our competition and are just waiting for the last intermediates to finish.....

.....while the audience gears up with photo-taking apparatus!

We were surprised and delighted when, in the first announcement, Scarlett and Tegan were awarded the silver and bronze medals respectively for the trampet element in their competition.

Zaida, who had nobly given up her whole Sunday to step into the breach to judge at the Withy King Cup, was given the honour of presenting the medals for this round with Vicky and Robin Baskerville.

Session 2 had been a real success and Session 3: The Under 12s, was not going to disappoint.

Delphie Merrill below left, was awarded 1st place and the gold medal for tampet and added the overall bronze medal, below right, by taking 3rd place when the combined scores over all three pieces of apparatus were calculated.

It helps to have friends at competitions. Bring your own from home, Tegan and Scarlett, below left.  Or make them there, Delphie and Ann Worley from Shepton Mallet, below right.  The only, but very successful, representatives from their respective clubs in Session 3.
